How to Set up Conversions from Google ads Based on Thank you Page?
Suppose you want to capture the lead from your landing page through google ads. However, to do it effectively, you will have to track how many users are getting converted.
It is important for you to set up conversions from the Google ads based on Thank you page.
You can set conversions for different actions. But in this guide, we will only learn about the conversions based on the thank you page.
Now you have created a landing page where you have given a form to be filled and other calls to actions such as Book now, Enquire now, Get the Quote. If a user clicks on any of the calls to action buttons or fills up the form, they will be redirected to a new page called Thank you page.
Whoever visits the thank you page will be considered as a conversion.
We will set up this conversion through google tag manager. Without any further ado, let’s get started:
To set up conversion tracking from GTM, you will have to sign up first on the GTM and you will have to link it with the website.
To Set conversion tracking, first you will have to create conversion on the Google ads. For that,
First, Go to the Google ads Dashboards.
Navigate to the Tools and Settings.
Click on the Conversions.
Click on the new conversions.
Choose the Submit lead for a Conversion goal.
Keep it as primary action only.
Give it a name such as “submit form.”
Enter the conversion value.
Select the count as “one.”
Keep all other settings as they are.
You will get the code to be integrated on the thank you page where two values would be there such as Conversion ID and Conversion Label.
Once you go through this process, you will have to open the GTM and place this code with the help of it.
Create the new tag.
Name the new tag as “Gads Conversion Form Fill.”
Now search the Google ads conversion tracking
Enter the Conversion ID and conversion Label from the Google ads.
Now Set the trigger.
Name the trigger first as Thank you page.
Now go to the trigger configuration.
Select the page view
Click on the Some page view.
Now select the page url contains as /thankyou/.
This is how it will be set up.
Now you can check if it is working through the Google tag assistance or not.
You will have to set up the conversion Linker tag as well in the GTM.
Go to the Tag, In the tag configuration, select the conversion linker tag and trigger them on all the pages. You need to set it up Once.
This conversion tracking we set up was for someone who fills up the form and goes to the thank you page. It is done under the primary conversion action. Its call to action was “Get the Quote.”
Now we will track the button now and Enquiry Now as the secondary conversion actions.
For that, we will have to create the conversions from the Google ads.
Go to the conversion in the Google ads.
Create the New conversions.
Select the Book appointment as a conversion goal.
Select it as the secondary action.
Now keep everything as they are.
You will get a code now.
Now,
Go to the GTM.
First turn on all the variables in the GTM.
Go to the Trigger.
Name the trigger as Button click - Book Now.
Click on the All elements.
Click on the Some clicks.
Select the click Text contains Book now.
Now, Select the tag and name it.
Enter the Conversion ID and Conversion Label.
We have to follow the same process for the Enquiry now button.
